About me

Hi there!
I'm Mark Dobinson.
Welcome to Live the Dream photography and my travels to capture images that inspire me.
From a young age, I always had interests in nature/wildlife, railways, industrial history and travel, but in particular photography. The landscape photography of Fay Godwin, Robert Doisneau's wonderful work in France and Chambre Hardman's images of Liverpool from the 50s and 60s were all an inspiration to the young me.
As I have become older photography has become the main interest and motivation to get out and explore, to enjoy discovering new places, be they relatively close to home, or further afield.
Following my Passion
My late father had lots of plans for retirement and his passing, before he had the chance to enjoy them, had a huge influence on me. I resolved to do all the things I want to do and have no regrets; travelling with my camera to interesting and beautiful places; experiencing different landscapes and parts of the world. In short I wanted to 'live the dream' through my photography.
It's not only travel, but experiences, such as music festivals or sporting events, that I want to capture with my photogrpahy. My hope is to inspire and motivate others to want to experience life.I would love you to join me on my journey and follow the Blog of my travels.

Photography plays a great part in my sense of wellbeing!
Life throws up challenges at times, and photography increasingly plays a very important part in my sense of well-being, allowing me to deal with the stresses of modern life in a wonderfully positive way. I totally switch off whilst out taking photographs, finding it therapeutic and energizing and the exercise keeps me fairly fit. I am very fortunate to live in the west of England, with easy access to Dartmoor, Exmoor, and a gorgeous coastline with the sea and its ever changing moods close by.
I bought a van and had it converted into a camper, which allows me to travel independently to some of the more remote and beautiful places and connect with the landscape in a way I wasn't able to before.
Finding a remote spot and witnessing a fabulous sunrise in an amazing location, photographing the milky way under a truly dark sky, opening the door to a mountain vista are some of the amazing things that having a home on wheels allows me to experience.
